Oh boy. After years of swearing that I would never become a Trekkie, after hardcore years of Star Wars fangirling and thinking that I couldn't possibly get any nerdier, I have been proven wrong. Last night I finally saw Star Trek XI - and I LOVED IT. LOVE. SO MUCH LOVE. I mean, I figured I would - fantastic cast and omg, JJ ABRAMS - but man did I fall hard. We're talking straight to cracked out fan videos, getting LJ icons and joining shipping communities. And, speaking of all of that,

Yeah...I really love the internet. In terms of SHIPPING, I hardcore ship Chekov with me. Actually, on the topic of Russian, my heart breaks every time I see a gorgeous Russian man and remember that I am not taking the language. Someday, I will talk off for St. Petersburg or Moscow...

ANYWAY. I thought Spock/Uhura was SUPER cute. I can totally see why people like Kirk/Spock though I'm not really into it (yet, I'm sure.) I also think Sulu/Chekov is really cute. OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE I ALREADY HAVE READ FIC, FHGHGKJFKSDHDSGKJ. Kirk/McCoy amuses me, mostly because McCoy is super lolzy. ALSO I LOVE SCOTTY BECAUSE SIMON PEGG COULD BE IN ANYTHING AND I WOULD ADORE HIM

Okay so I apologize for being a huge n00b to the fandom, even just to this new shiny XI fandom (let alone hardcore old school Trek.) I'm sure I will say lots of stupid things in the days (weeks? months?) to come. BUT IT'S SO MUCH FUN!

I have spent the majority of the day studying Italian, reading about Judaism, giggling over ontd_merlin, and watching How I Met Your Mother. Oh, and deciding about study abroad WHICH I FINALLY HAVE NARROWED DOWN, DIEU MERCI (choosing between Cardiff, Oxford, and St. Andrews. I am being decisive, woo!) I still need to start studying for my Chinese history midterm & reading about Daoism (not the Tao of Pooh, sadly) & study Deutsch...but I actually don't feel too unproductive today. However, I am being powered by mac&cheese and Caesar salad that basically I had to cross Emyn Muil to get to so I might be biased by the tasty (plus, marble cake to eat later...YAY FOOD!)

I actually have nothing else to say, except I should finishing up season two of Supernatural soon which is exciting.

1. I am absolutely in love with the_birdnest's More Than Our Abilities, a post-DH fic that chronicles Scorpius's first year at Hogwarts. I hardly ever read canon (unless you count H/D as canon, holla HBP!), let alone G-rated post-DH stuff, but this fic just seems so realistic and just so good I can't resist! I am dying to read the next chapter as soon as it is released.

2. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is my reading material of the day, and while I quite enjoy hearing Elizabeth talk about ninjas, I'm finding myself far more excited about the actually Pride and Prejudice parts of the story! So, if you have never read the real Pride and Prejudice, I insist that you must (plus it's public domain, so free free free!)

I had the COOLEST DREAM last night. I was in Europe and took this...subway thing (the entrances were like the NYC subway) and stop one was BUDAPEST and stop two was ATHENS but then I got off in ST. PETERSBURG and took a picture of myself in front of The Church of Our Savior on Spilled Blood (which I am IRL determined to see) and emailed it to my parents. Then I took the train to Paris and there were STRAWBERRIES growing on TREES and I was like DAMN THIS REALLY IS A MAGICAL CITY and then I was going to go to Athens but I woke up instead :(

I also remember not being able to speak a word of Russian but I was fluent in Hindi. Strange trade off.

Anyway I leave for Florida tonight, I'm not sure if I'll be bringing my laptop or not so anyway toodaloo!

Though I do enjoy the summer heat in general, it is totally killing my baking buzz! I suppose I shouldn't really care since copious amounts of cupcakes/cake/cookies/etc isn't exactly a part of my healthy-kick-off-thingy but still. I don't have direct oven access at Smith so hopefully I'll get to whip out those baking pans one last time before heading back (which is, by the way, still far away for my taste! I can't waaaait to get back to school.)

I made those cupcake babies pictured up there with minimal ingredients in my house (thus the no frosting + replaced vanilla with Bailey's Irish Cream, yum!) They were quite tasty. I'm seriously jonesing for a cupcake right about now (I found out that the 'healthy' ice cream my dad got for himself is loaded with chemicals and high fructose corn syrup, so I moped and ate a waffle instead. Also, I am way too into food & will hopefully be seeing Julie and Julia - as a part of a 'father daughter' day, oh dear - later to feed my foodie and Smithie needs.)

The problem with being sick so much of the summer, as well as having a desk job for two months, is that the physical activity I usually get to enjoy is put aside for lazy healing time. Well, luckily I am finally feeling healthy again and so I'm kicking starting the end of my summer into healthy time, prepping for Smith, where I will be returning in less than a month! Oh my gosh!

I cut out high fructose corn syrup a few weeks ago after a year or so of giving up on that (it actually makes me feel a lot better and avoid icky factory food!) Besides that I'm just working on portions (I almost typed 'potions', egads nerd) and exercise...and I'm really enjoying it! I love respecting my body. Plus exercise can feel SO awesome. Anyway I have to get back into better shape so I can live in peace with my uber-exercise-addicted roommate (who I love insane amounts), even though she's suffering from her fifth stress fracture. Poor insane thing.

The sun is shining and I refuse to let the little petty things get me down today. Powered by awesome cheerful music like Happiness by Kimura Kaela and Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy by Queen I am going to make today a HAPPY DAY! I hope you guys can all join in on this smiley movement with me!

1. I LOOOOOVE A VERY POTTER MUSICAL. IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN IT YET, I INSIST YOU DO FOR THESE REASONS. I am driving my parents mad because I won't stop playing it, especially the Quirrel/Voldemort duets.

2. I am having so much fun re-watching Alias from the start. Last episode I saw was 1.18 "Masquerade" which is probs one of my least favorite of the season though, mostly because Noah reminds me of The Master from Buffy. I can't even explain it. This season is so awesome, but definitely needs MOAR SARK.

3. I just watched Battlestar Galactica 4.14 "Blood on the Scales" which is one of my favorite episodes of that show, if not TV, ever. Really shows how BSG RULES at political drama AND character development.

4. I kind of want to get a paid account simply for more icon space. Decisions, decisions.

5. Not nerdy but I love baklava and crumpets. That is all.

My throat really fucking hurts right now, all the way through my ear. Perhaps it is because I have an ulcer in my throat because of coxsackievirus. Make that perhaps a yes and we have an advil-resistant, wince-inducing painful win!

I had such a fun week with pineapplebacon though, mostly being insane Harry Potter nerds...as usual... saw HBP for a second time (as well as Chamber of Secrets and Sorcerer's Stone for the billionth times, plus more movies yeaaah movies!) I found it sadder this time. Also also also I LOVE TOM RIDDLE SO MUCH. HE IS SUCH A FASCINATING CHARACTER, I CAN'T GET OVER IT.

Okay I probably ought to sleep. I came back on my computer to start writing Part II of my Vera Ward of Odd Adventure story but all I've written is a few lines. Boo.
